North Side Kairos 17: A Retreat For Teens

The Jerusalem cross, a symbol of the Kairos retreat. One equal-armed cross surrounded by four smaller crosses of similar shape to represent the four days of the retreat.Are you a teen who is looking for something fun to do this summer? The North Side Kairos Retreat is a four-day retreat for North Side Chicago teens who have just completed their sophomore, junior or senior years of high school. On Kairos, you are invited to reflect on relationships with yourself, friends, family and God. The four days of Kairos are an opportunity to heal, rejoice, question, explore the Catholic faith, meet new people and have fun.

Kairos retreats are well-known throughout the Chicagoland area. Many Catholic high schools have Kairos retreats on a regular basis. North Side Kairos is unique because of its diversity. The youth who participate in and lead this particular Kairos come from both public and Catholic high schools and many different parishes in the city and suburbs. The retreat is led by trained peer leaders and Virtus-certified adult lay ministers. A participant does not need be Catholic to go on the retreat. This diversity creates a safe environment to understand the richness of our Catholic community.

Thousands of young men and women go on Kairos every year. They go and discover who they really are and how they want to live. They come for their own reasons. All leave changed.

North Side Kairos XVII will be Friday, August 12 through Monday, August 15, 2016 at the beautiful Bellarmine Hall in Barrington. The cost including meals is $225 per person. Scholarships are available and payment plans can be arranged through the Financial Aid form; money should not be a reason to skip the retreat if you are genuinely interested. "The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?"
-- Psalm 27:1

SSVD REFLECTION... In today’s Gospel, Jesus overcomes the temptations to wealth and power and esteem. As we begin Lent, may we open our hearts to the grace of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. In the month of February, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent dePaul was able to assist eight families, providing referrals to services and $1,700 for food, legal assistance, transportation, utility and rent bills. Thank you!

If you’d like to play, contact Michelle at michelleniles@ameritech.net.

WATCH YOUR BELONGINGS! When leaving the pew for any reason during the Mass, please take all of your personal belongings with you. It is too easy for someone to reach in the pew and take what does not belong to them. Be safe!

¡Gracias!

REMEMBER A LOVED ONE Mass intentions may be offered for those in need of extra prayers. Suggested donation is $10 per Mass. Call 773-539-7510.

BE TRANSFORMED: ATTEND A MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER WEEKEND Can you imagine being with the disciples up on that mountain and watching Jesus transform right in front of your eyes? Let God strengthen, renew, rekindle and transform your marriage sacrament.
