Papal Conclave to Begin Tuesday, March 12

PRAYING FOR A NEW POPE
The period of transition between the end of one papacy and the beginning of another is referred to by two names. "Sede vacante," in the Church’s official Latin, is translated "vacant see," meaning that the see (or diocese) of Rome is without a bishop. It is also referred to as the Interregnum, a reference to the days when popes were also temporal monarchs who reigned over vast territories. In the 20th century, this period of transition has averaged just 17 days. This situation has almost always been created by the death of a pope, but it may also be created by resignation, as is the case with Pope Benedict XVI who resigned as of February 28.

REST IN THE DIVINE PRESENCE Every Friday, the Blessed Sacrament is placed out for veneration and prayer from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. To reach the Adoration Chapel, enter the church through the Claremont door, walk up the stairs, turn to the left and then to the left again. Walk down the passage behind the altar and enter the former baptistery where the Eucharist is exposed for veneration. Help us keep vigil with the Lord by making time for these moments of prayer; you’ll feel closer to God by resting in the divine presence. Please sign the book when you enter. Call 773-539-7510.

La iglesia estará abierta los viernes desde las 9:30 a.m. hasta las 5 p.m. Entren por la puerta que se halla sobre la Claremont, suba las escaleras y vire hacia la izquierda. Suba cinco escalones más y pase por la sacristía y detrás del altar. Allí entrará a la capilla de Veneración donde el Santísimo estará expuesto. Traiga su Biblia, rosario, libros y sus pensamientos. Pase algún tiempo con el Santísimo. Si usted desea inscríbase para una hora de oración cada viernes. Llame al 773-539-3176.
