THEOLOGY ON TAP IS BACK!
Ravenswood Catholic Young Adults (RCYA) are teaming up with two parishes this year to host Theology on Tap. This is a free event for those in their 20s and 30s, single or married. It is an exciting speaker series that includes discussion, food and fellowship. This year we are partnering with St. Gregory the Great and St. Andrew to offer more Theology on Tap on two separate weeknights. Food and drink will be provided.

Market Day has been a long-time presence at Queen of Angels for a reason: the items are high quality and the profits go directly to the school. A REFLECTION FROM SSVD The good news of today’s gospel is the extravagance of what is being given to us. All we need to do is be faithful in “small matters.” The cost of fidelity has no comparison to the reward given. When you give the furniture, household items and clothing you no longer use to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, you are sharing God’s extravagant love. The donation box previously located in the parking lot has been relocated to the parking lot at St. Matthias Parish, 4934 N. Claremont.

IT’S BOWLING SEASON! The Ravenswood Catholic Young Adults (RCYA) bowls Monday evenings through the end of February at Lincoln Square Lanes, 4874 N. Lincoln Ave. (above the hardware store). Lincoln Square Lanes has agreed to host the group for a mere $4.50 per game per person and $4 per person for shoe rental. Bowling will be every Monday beginning at 7:30 p.m. through the end of February. All skill levels are invited. This is a great way to meet fellow parishioners and strengthen ties with the community. FRIDAY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Every Friday, the Blessed Sacrament is placed out for veneration and prayer from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. To reach the Adoration Chapel, enter the church through the Claremont door, walk up the stairs, turn to the left and then to the left again. Walk down the passage behind the altar and enter the former baptistery where the Eucharist is exposed for veneration. Help us keep vigil with the Lord by making some time on Fridays for these moments of prayer. This is a wonderful way to feel closer to God and rest in God’s presence. Visitors are asked to register in the sign-in book.

HOSTS NEEDED The Parish Social following the 9:30 a.m. Mass needs people willing to help host these gatherings. Would you care for some coffee, some juice or a donut? If you attend the Parish Social on Sundays, you know you’re at the right place. Gather outside or in the Lower Church and engage in conversation while having a light snack. It’s all there for you to enjoy following the 9:30 a.m. Mass each Sunday. Are you able to bring baked goods or fruit on any given Sunday? If so, please call the Parish Center and leave your name and phone number. Beverages will be provided. Please lend a hand. ANKLEBITERS BACK IN SESSION Are you a parent of a small child? Are you looking for a fun activity to start your child’s week? Join us Mondays at 10 a.m. in the school basement. JOIN OUR “LITTLEST ANGELS” — CHERUB CHOIR SEEKS NEW MEMBERS The Queen of Angels Music Ministry invites all children in First through Third Grades to participate in the Queen of Angels Cherub Choir. No audition is necessary. Singing in the Cherub Choir is a great way for children to get more involved in the liturgy, meet other parishioners their age and grow in faith.
Rehearsals are on Wednesday during the school year beginning at 5 p.m. in the Lower Church and last about one hour. The next rehearsal in Wednesday, September 29. The Cherub Choir generally sings for the 5 p.m. Saturday Mass about once a month and occasionally at the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday. Besides learning many of the great treasures of sacred music which are a part of our tradition, singing and musical skills are taught to prepare the choir members for a lifetime of singing.

A REFLECTION FROM SVDP On September 27, the Church celebrates the feast of St. Vincent dePaul, who knew that “God has sent him to bring good news to the poor.” Together with your gifts, the members of the Society of St. Vincent DePaul continue his work and mission in the church.

RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY IS OCTOBER 3 Sunday, October 3, has been designated Respect Life Sunday by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. October is designated as Respect Life Month, which recognizes life in all glory and all its forms, providing opportunities to embrace the whole cycle of life with which humanity has been blessed, from conception to natural death.
Queen of Angels will hold Eucharistic Holy Hours on Friday evenings throughout October, beginning at 7 p.m. this Friday, October 1 in the church. Each week the Holy Hour will include solemn exposition and benediction, bilingual rosary, other prayers and music dedicated to God’s greatest gift. All are invited to join us in praying the Joyful Mysteries of the rosary at this week’s Holy Hour or in your home if you cannot attend. Call the parish office at 773-539-7510 with any questions.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This weekend, we celebrate Seminary Sunday in the parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago. On this occasion, we honor the ministry of the many priests who serve you so faithfully each day, as well as those now preparing to serve with that same charity in the future.
Here in the Archdiocese of Chicago, Mundelein Seminary is a place where vocations to the priesthood are discerned and strengthened. Each year, as I ordain the graduates of Mundelein Seminary to the priesthood of Jesus Christ, I do so with confidence that they have been formed for fidelity and service. The best example of the work of the seminary is reflected in the quiet and compassionate ministry of your pastor and parish priests as, each day, they live out their ordination commitment to bring Christ to you in word and sacrament. I thank them for their good example and you for your prayers and financial contributions which provide our future priests with the education and environment they need to “prepare well” to serve God's faithful.
I ask you to pray for those whom God is now calling to the ordained priesthood from among our families and friends. Talk to young men you know whom you judge would be good priests; encourage them to explore the possibility of priesthood. I ask you to especially remember your bishops and parish priests each day in prayer. You and your intentions are in my own prayers. Thank you and may God bless you.

Aquí en la Arquidiócesis de Chicago, el Seminario Mundelein es un lugar donde se disciernen y fortalecen las vocaciones para el sacerdocio. Cada año, cuando ordeno a los graduados del Seminario de Mundelein al sacerdocio de Jesucristo, lo hago con la confianza de que se han formado para la fidelidad y el servicio. El mejor ejemplo de la labor del seminario se refleja en el tranquilo y compasivo ministerio de su pastor y de sus sacerdotes parroquiales, ya que, cada día, viven su compromiso de ordenación para que Cristo les llegue a ustedes, en palabra y sacramento. Ten Reasons to Come Home to the Catholic Church

No matter how long you have been away from the Catholic Church, you can always come home. You can start going to Mass again (find a parish) and become a part of a parish community that is ready to welcome you with open arms. God is inviting you to dive into your faith in a deeper way than you ever have before.

You may already be feeling a strange inner pull to look into the Church again. That spiritual longing you feel is God drawing you back to Himself. God never forces; He only invites. He leaves the decision to return to the Catholic Church up to you.

There are numerous reasons for coming back to the Church. Though Christ is at the heart of the many reasons to come home to the Church, each individual’s experience in returning can be unique, depending upon whatever speaks to his or her heart.

RCYA Bike Tour, Sunday, July 8

Join the RCYA on Sunday, July 8 for a free architectural bike tour highlighting two churches. Meet at Saint Matthias, 2310 W. Ainslie, at 3 p.m. for a tour led by Father Terry Keehan, then bike over to Our Lady of Lourdes, 4640 N. Ashland, for another guided tour. The event will end with biking to Saint Benedict, 2215 W.
