Help those in need this summer through several programs sponsored by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul: a toiletries collection, clothing and housewares drive, 5K run/walk and vehicle donation program.
The Queen of Angels Respect Life Committee invites you to keep up on current issues and activities, including a Father's Day Bake Sale benefitting their work, an update on the Jane's Egg Basket drive in April, and plans and prayers for religious freedom and conscience protections for employers and health care workers.
Parishioners of all ages can join with others in the work of serving our brothers and sisters in need through our parish conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Hunger Walk at Soldier Field benefitting local food pantries, a Friends of the Poor 5k Run/Walk through Lincoln Park, and outreach to immigrants to this county.
SSVD REFLECTS... Today as we celebrate the feast of Easter we find the challenge of also seeing and believing the resurrection that comes through our own lives of self-sacrifice which brings new life to others. Come and see what the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is doing in your own neighborhood and know that you are a sign of God’s love to those who are suffering. The next meeting is at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12 in the Parish Center.
NOTES ON THE ORGAN There is still time to donate to the restoration work for the Moller organ that has graced Queen of Angels for decades. Donation envelopes were included in a recent Guide. Or simply place your donation in an envelope marked “Organ Fund.” The re-leathering project is designed to breathe new life into parts of the organ that are showing signs of wear and tear. This is not a cosmetic upgrade. This is necessary to keep the organ from losing the ability to create specific notes. Several notes are already “missing” and we don’t want to compromise the integrity of the musical instrument at all. It is a classic and needs to remain so. There are so many causes that require financial assistance and support. When deciding where your charitable dollars go, please consider a lasting treasure like the Moller organ. Thank you for your generosity. If you would prefer using a credit card, please call the Parish Center at 773-539-7510 or click “Donate Now” on our website, parish.queenofangelschicago.org, to donate online through GiveCentral.org.
