ATHLETICS, CARNIVAL PIX NEEDED The Historical Committee is especially looking for memories of athletics programs from the 1940s, ‘50s and ‘60s. We also need materials from the Carnival era. Your attic clutter can help us fill the gaps in our archives! Past and current parishioners of any age are welcome to submit text of any length or to sit down for an interview with a committee representative. All submissions will contribute to our efforts to preserve our parish history for the next 100 years. E-mail parish@queenofangelschicago.org. or call 773-539-7510.

MISSIONARY APPEAL THANK YOU! On behalf of the Ad Gentes Missionary Congregation, thank you for allowing me to share my mission experience and to solicit funding for the continuation of Christ’s work. Thanks to those who donated and to those who promise to pray for us. I ask the Lord to bless you and reward you all with eternal life.  -- Sister Lucia Benedict Azoba, Ad Gentes Missionaries

SATURDAY ROSARY Join us to pray the Rosary after each 9 a.m. Saturday Mass. To lead the Rosary, please contact Joann at 773-583-1371 or green3256@yahoo.com.

CRAFTS AT THE PARISH CENTER Wishing you had some extra time to work on your unfinished projects or to start a new hobby? Bring your sewing, embroidery, knitting, scrapbooking, quilting or whatever you’re working on to Craft Night from 7:30 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday in the Upper Voss. Enjoy some company while you work on your projects. Share ideas and talents. Contact Dorothy Plovanich at dotplovanich@comcast.net or Laura Cwikowski at cwikowski@sbcglobal.net.

QUIGLEY SCHOLARS PROGRAM Honoring the tradition of the high school seminary in the Archdiocese of Chicago, the Quigley Scholars Program continues to call young men to consider the priesthood of Jesus Christ in a new way. Participants must be practicing Roman Catholics; have interest in exploring priesthood with other young men; attend Catholic or public high school; willing to attend a once-a-month evening of prayer, dinner and spiritual formation and fun with the St. Joseph College Seminary Community at Loyola University; willing to pray for vocations and for others; and willing to love and serve God and His people with great joy. Call 773-973-9706.

DO YOU FEEL CALLED TO THE DEACON FORMATION PROGRAM? A deacon is a man who is called by God to a ministry of service. With bishops and priests, the deacon receives the Sacrament of Holy Orders. He is an ordained minister, who may be married and have children. He is living in the lifestyle of the laity. Permanent Deacons are called to a three-fold ministry of service — of the Word, and Charity and Justice and to live out their life in service to Jesus and their brothers and sisters in Christ. Do you believe Jesus may be inviting you to inquire about this ordained ministry? If so, your first step is having a heart-to-heart conversation with your family and Fr. Jim. Review the website at www.usml.edu (select Ministry Formation, then Deacon Formation). Contact Deacon Jim Cozzo, Jr. at 847-837-4563 or at jcozzo@usml.edu and request a pre-application form. The Deacon Formation Program of the Archdiocese of Chicago meets at the University of St. Mary of the Lake at Mundelein Seminary.

RACHEL’S VINEYARDS RETREATS Rachel’s Vineyard is a weekend retreat program that offers healing to any woman or man who has struggled with the emotional or spiritual pain of abortion. The retreat is a chance to get away from the daily pressures of work and family, to focus on a painful time in life and to begin healing. Many experience an initial sense of relief after an abortion. Later, however, emotional problems can surface that may include depression, anger, flashbacks, emptiness, anxiety and unresolved grief. The retreat provides an opportunity to release repressed feelings in a non-judgmental atmosphere. The next retreat program will be October 2 to 4 at the Fullerton Cenacle, 513 W. Fullerton in Chicago. Fee is $150. For information, contact Catherine Rennert at 815-968-1157 or cathy.rennert@gmail.com.

JOY, LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING If any of these ingredients are missing in your marriage, it’s time to say “yes!” to a Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend. The next dates are September 11-13, November 6-8 or December 4-6. For information or reservations, visit www.wwmechicago-gary.org. or call Kris and Jim at 800-442-3554.
