TRIP INTO SAVINGS— IT’S EASIER THAN YOU THINK!

You hear it every week at mass announcements…”Food and gift certificates are available for purchase at the back of the church.”

But what are we really talking about? The Queen of Angels TRIP (Tuition Reduction Incentive) program. A fundraiser that already brings thousands of dollars to the school and parish each year. It is a great fundraiser, but one which has not yet met its potential for earnings.

Who knew?!
…that something so simple can raise over $10,000 for our parish, school, and school families with only 8% of parish families participating!
…that with a little planning and patience before you do your shopping, you can raise significant money for the parish and school!
…that you can reduce your tuition bills, too!

It is so simple! Let’s use Jewel/Osco as an example:

You purchase $100 in Jewel/Osco gift certificates – which you use just like cash at any Jewel/Osco any time.
$100.00 = value of the certificate and amount paid by you
$96.00 = cost to Queen of Angels to purchase the certificate
$2.00 = amount that is earned by the parish and school
$2.00 = amount of “credit” you earn

So, without spending anything additional, you can earn real money for the parish and school as well as for you!

What happens to the earnings?
The money earned for the School and Parish goes directly to the General Funds, which is used for important things such as building maintenance, staff salaries, and other important operating expenses.

Your “credit” can be applied as REAL money to one of five areas:
Reduce your tuition bill by the amount of credit.
Direct the money earned (i.e., credit) to be applied to another family’s tuition.
Direct the money earned to be applied to the Lyman Family Scholarship Fund.
Direct the money earned to be applied to the School General Fund.
Direct the money earned to be applied to the Parish General Fund.

It’s really that easy! Now for the challenge…
Parishes and schools throughout the Chicagoland area who run programs just like our TRIP program routinely raise four or five times as much as our program does. We know we can do the same. If at least half of every parish family used TRIP certificates to purchase at least $100 of food, clothing, household items, etc. every month, we could raise a total of more than $30,000!

Now wouldn’t that be a whole lot easier than working at and supporting more fundraisers?

For more details on how the TRIP program works, please see one of the TRIP representatives in the gathering space after the 8, 9:30 or 11 a.m. Masses, or contact the school or parish offices.

What a great idea!
Using TRIP certificates benefits the parish, the school and you!

SAFE Program

The SAFE Program administers The Lyman Fund, which is sustained by parishioner donation and directed by the school and parish, to give partial tuition assistance to families in need attending Queen of Angels School. The program is supported by a monthly collection envelope, and we conduct monthly meeting with families as needed. During the 2003 - 2004 school year, 17 families were awarded $17,714.95 in tuition assistance.

The Lyman Fund is Queen of Angels’ internal financial assistance program to assist parish school families who are experiencing a temporary financial difficulty. The fund is totally financed through the donations of parishioners. Applications for assistance or tuition deferment are made on an ongoing basis (applicable for families of students grades Kindergarten through 8 only).

If a family is unable to pay their child’s tuition, or is experiencing financial difficulties, contact Mrs. Julia Kelly or the SAFE Committee at the school (773-769-4211) as soon as the need arises. We realize that financial hardships, the loss of a job, a sudden illness or any other unexpected crisis can hit at any time.

A donation to the Lyman Scholarship Fund is an investment in the future of Queen of Angels Parish and School and makes the reality of a Catholic education more attainable to more families. Thank you.
