It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of Father Bill Eddy, Pastor of nearby Saint Hilary Parish and onetime Resident Priest at Queen of Angels in the late 1980s while he worked as a teacher at Quigley Preparatory Seminary North.
Many of our longtime parishioners remember Father Eddy for his down-to-earth nature and straightforward homilies. In the last few years, while Pastor at Saint Hilary, Father Eddy has been a regular confessor for First Reconciliation at Queen of Angels and celebrant of several parishioners' funerals.
Father Eddy passed away suddenly on June 6. He collapsed in his office at Saint Hilary Rectory and was found the following morning.
He will lie in state at Saint Hilary Church from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11 and Thursday, June 12. His funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 13, also at Saint Hilary Church. The church is located at California and Bryn Mawr Avenues in Chicago.
Father Eddy is survived by his two sisters, Judy and Kathy, and many loved nieces and nephews. Please keep them and the Saint Hilary community in your prayers.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
