Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14
PRAYERS FOR YOUNG PENITENTS Please pray this week for the 78 children of Queen of Angels Parish who will receive the sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation for the first time this Saturday, January 26. These children have been prepared for the sacrament through the efforts of their parents and of their teachers and catechists in classes at our parish school and Sunday morning CCD program. As they meet Jesus the Good Shepherd in this sacrament for the first time, may these children recognize the unending love of God in the love of their family and the love of their parish. Like the Prodigal Son, here they have a home where they may always return no matter how far they may stray.

SSVD REFLECTION... In the Gospel today at the wedding feast in Cana, Jesus reveals himself to his disciples and they began to believe in him. Every day, God also gives us signs of his love so we also can respond in faith and trust. Your gift in the poor box to the Society of St. Vincent dePaul becomes a sign of God’s love to those who are suffering and you give them reason to believe and to trust.
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR ART PROJECTS Ms. Koenitzer, the art teacher at school, is in need of the following supplies for her next two art projects. If possible, please send your donated supplies to the school office. Needed are white sheets (no pattern, no design); washers, bolts, small spoons or other metal pieces that have NO sharp edges and are no larger than a spoon. Your prompt assistance will reveal the mystery of the artwork sooner rather than later. Thank you for your generosity.

A VISIBLE GOD We find it difficult to convey ideas to people unless we can actually show them something, to demonstrate what we mean. God, who is invisible and truly beyond human understanding, apparently faces the same difficulty. People want to see, not just listen to an idea. So God gave us Jesus Christ, God made visible in the world.
During these past weeks we have seen how Jesus was revealed as an infant to the shepherds and the magi, and then began his adult “public life” at his baptism by John. Today’s Gospel reading tells us of his “first sign,” providing wine for the wedding guests at Cana.
Of course, even Jesus, God made visible, was not always easily understood in his own day, nor is he even now. So we have to ponder what we see: the poverty and simplicity of his birth, his humility and openness before John the Baptist, his kindness and compassion toward people in their ordinary problems, such as running short of wine at a wedding. Yet it is in coming to know Jesus that we come to know God. (Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.)

2013 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL APPROACHES: “LOVE NEVER FAILS” Many of you have responded to the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) mailing from Cardinal George. On behalf of those served by the ministries and services funded by the ACA, we thank you for your gifts. If you received the mailing and have not yet responded, please do so as soon as possible. This year, the theme of the Appeal is: “Love Never Fails” (1 Corinthians 13:8). In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul instructs that love is the greatest virtue. God loves us always. He gives us everything. As we contemplate his gifts to us, we should also reflect on our gratitude for these gifts. Your financial support for the work of our parish, our Archdiocese and the Church throughout the world, is, in fact, one way to express this gratitude. Please give generously to the 2013 Annual Catholic Appeal. When our parish reaches its goal of $28,740 in paid pledges, 100 percent of the additional funds received will be returned to us for use in our parish.

“¡El amor nunca falla!” (1 Corintios 13:8)
