A REFLECTION FROM SSVD... As we begin Advent, we are called to “await” in joyful anticipation for the grace of Christmas to once again bless our lives. Wherever you live in our parish, there are poor families within walking distance of your home. Consider if you are being called to serve the poor through the Society of St. Vincent dePaul. The next meeting is at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 13 in the Voss Center.
|2012 HARVEST JAM RAISES $13,000
As we close out another year of Harvest Jam, the event Chairpersons send out a special “thank you” to our friends who helped with this amazing event and those who gave so generously of their time. This year we raised nearly $13,000 for our parish and school, but more importantly, we had fun doing it! We couldn’t have done it without our amazing 2012 Harvest Jam Committee! Thank you for your tireless devotion to this important community building event.
Thanks also to Msgr. Jim, Mrs. Kelly, our Corporate Sponsors: Aligned Modern Health, Coldwell Banker and Heal Veterinary Clinic and to our Men’s Club, Niko Konstantoudakis and Houndstooth Saloon, all of our generous Queen of Angels Family Sponsors, Art Teacher Jonna Koenitzer, The Green Committee, Q of A Athletic Board, Commons Parent Group, School Board, the Q of A Eighth Graders, Girl Scouts, Donna Kalom, Deb and Tom Madden and to all of Queen of Angels school and parish families and friends for coming out to support this wonderful event.
Moving forward, our hope is that Harvest Jam will continue to build new friendships and renew old ones as part of our faith-based community. We invite anyone who is interested to get involved next year and hope you’ll have as much fun as we did. Thank you for supporting us as we chaired this event the last two years. Best wishes for a successful and fun Harvest Jam 2013.
— Laurel McCaleb, Cathy Mitchel and Heather Hernandez, 2011 and 2012 Harvest Jam Chairpersons
PLEASE SWITCH TO GIVECENTRAL We ask our parishioners who have never used electronic giving or are currently using ParishPay to switch to GiveCentral. The process is simple: go to our website and click on the “Donate Now” Link. We need your help now! Our collections have not been what we need and we rely on your generosity to keep us going. If you can’t make it to Mass, your contribution still does. If you attend a Mass other than Queen of Angels, your donation to the parish is there when we need it. Help the mission of Queen of Angels and switch to GiveCentral!
WINTER TOAST ‘13 DONATIONS Winter Toast 2013 planning is well underway, BUT we need your help! Please consider donating to help make this event a huge success. We are in need of wine, sporting event tickets, play or ballet tickets, spa and restaurant gift certificates, rounds of golf, connections to liquor distributors and help with travel packages (airfare, condos/hotels, and lake houses). If your hobby is woodworking or sewing, we would like to include a dollhouse or toy box in the auction. Monetary donations are also being accepted to “supplement” auction items. If you have any questions, please contact Fundraising Chair Melissa Richlen at 312-363-9163 or email@example.com.
STILL TIME TO SUPPORT RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS There is still time to support the elderly religious through the collection. Show your thanks for the senior Catholic sisters, brother and religious order priests who made a positive difference in so many lives. More than 95 percent of donations to the Retirement Fund for the Religious (RFR) aid senior Catholic, sisters, brothers and religious order priests. The National Religious Retirement Office coordinates the annual collection and distributes the proceeds to eligible religious communities across the nation. This funding provides vital financial assistance for the day-to-day care of elder members and supports long-range retirement planning. Please give as generously as you are able.
