From our successful Thanksgiving Food Drive to a sandwich-making party and pajama drive, Queen of Angels brings the love of Jesus to our neighbors in need this holiday season.
SSVD SAYS “THANK YOU!”
The Society of St. Vincent dePaul thanks the parishioners and students, teachers and staff at Queen of Angels for their generous support of the Thanksgiving Food Drive. With your assistance and generous donations from Aldi, Harvest Time Foods, Cermak Produce, Honey Baked Ham and Trader Joe’s, we provided food and other necessities to 56 local families and provided an additional 52 bags of food and paper goods to local food pantries and a soup kitchen to meet the needs of the poor through the coming months. When we feed the hungry, we are feeding the Lord himself!
MAKE A DIFFERENCE WITH THE PAJAMA PROGRAM
The fourth and fifth graders at Queen of Angels School are partnered with the Pajama Program to provide new, warm pjs and new books to children in need in the United States and around the world, many waiting and hoping to be adopted. These are youngsters who may not know the comforts of a parent to tuck them into bed and read them a bedtime story. It’s easy to help. Donate new pajamas (all sizes are acceptable); donate new books; make a financial donation (every $10 gets a pair of pajamas and a new book. Donations will be accepted at the school, until Friday, December 14. For more info, visit www.pajamaprogram.org.
FAMILY FUN PB&J PARTY
The Commons Community Service Team will host a monthly PB&J Party with the after-care students from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 5. Join us in making sammies and assembling sack lunches for the homeless and elderly guests of St. Teresa’s Loaves and Fishes. There are jobs from toddler through adults. We could use a few more junior high students or adults to supervise the younger children. Contact Julie Buckert at 773-562-4625 or email@example.com. Thanks to Harvest Time grocery store for providing the produce for this event.
