The Queen of Angels Respect Life Committee invites you to keep up on current issues and activities, including a Father's Day Bake Sale benefitting their work, an update on the Jane's Egg Basket drive in April, and plans and prayers for religious freedom and conscience protections for employers and health care workers.
JOIN US AT THE BAKE SALE FOR DADS ON JUNE 17
Next weekend, the Respect Life Committee will host the annual Father’s Day Bake Sale. Plan on purchasing something sweet for the father figure in your life. This is the only event that directly benefits our group’s work to celebrate life and promote human dignity within our parish. Remember to stop by June 16 and 17! If you can do even more, we always need goods to sell. If you’d like to donate cookies, bars, cakes, cupcakes, breads or any baked good, please bring to the Parish Center on Thursday, June 14 for packaging. Bring items pre-cut into single size servings with a list of the ingredients and name of the recipe. Do not make anything that requires refrigeration. Can’t bake but want to help wrap goodies? Stop by the Parish Center at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 14. Call Patti at 773-275-8044.

EGG BASKET UPDATE
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Jane’s Egg Basket collection. This year we collected nearly 20 boxes of baby items and more than $600 (more than double last year) to help area women and families in need.
One third of our collection was sent to The Women’s Center whose work with women facing crisis pregnancies has allowed 35,000 children to live over the last few years. Another third went to the Teen Progress program for teen parents trying to finish high school through the Evangelical Covenant Church and the final portion was donated to the McGivney Center for Hope and Healing which, together with the Knights of Columbus, is working to develop a home for women and children in crisis in the Glenview area. Because their facility is not yet ready, the material portion of our donation to McGivney was passed on to South Haven, a south side faith-based women’s center.
Thank you again from the Respect Life committee and the Society of St. Vincent dePaul. Bless you all for your generosity.

PRAYER FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
Almighty God, Father of all nations, For freedom you have set us free in Christ Jesus (Gal 5:1). We praise and bless you for the gift of religious liberty, the foundation of human rights, justice, and the common good. Grant to our leaders the wisdom to protect and promote our liberties; By your grace may we have the courage to defend them, for ourselves and for all those who live in this blessed land. We ask this through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, our patroness, and in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, with whom you live and reign, one God, forever and ever. Amen. — U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB)
