All are invited to reach out to others this January with a Baby Bottle project to benefit moms in crisis pregnancies at the Women's Center, or consider giving your time to lead others to U.S. citizenship. Please note that the St. Vincent de Paul clothing box has been moved to the St. Matthias parking lot.
BABY BOTTLE PROJECT COMES TO QUEEN OF ANGELS PARISH
Beginning this weekend, our parish will participate in The Baby Bottle Project to benefit the Women’s Center of Greater Chicagoland. This non-profit organization directly assists mother and families experiencing crisis pregnancies by offering free services which include emotional, financial, material and spiritual support as well as counseling, pregnancy testing, ultrasound, material and monetary provisions, prayer and other aid. The Women’s Centers have saved more than 34,000 babies and their mothers, from abortion since opening in 1984.
Please take a Baby Bottle home with you after Mass the weekend of January 7-8, fill it with spare change (or bills) and return it the weekend of January 28-29. This is a simple but crucial fundraising effort for the Women’s Centers. Thank you for helping defend life.

SHARE OUR AMERICAN FREEDOMS
In 2010, a total of 619,913 people who came to this country as immigrants swore the oath of allegiance and became U.S. Citizens. Requirements in this process include multiple applications, interviews and tests, in order to ensure that naturalized citizens have familiarity with American government and history, a working knowledge of the English language and good moral character.
The road to citizenship can be long and difficult. At Queen of Angels, a ministry exists to help our brothers and sisters who have begun this process and are studying for the interviews and examinations. Help is needed to lead these classes, which are offered free of charge as a service to the community.
Volunteers must be patient, caring and able to keep up on current events and changes in immigration regulations. Internet access, teaching skills, or competence in a foreign language can be helpful but are not necessary. Most important is a love of the United States and the freedoms that we enjoy, including the freedom to adopt this country as one’s own. Training is available from Deacon Ben Nieves, who has taught the class for 14 years.
U.S. Citizenship Classes are held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evenings at the Parish Center. For more information, to volunteer or sign up for the class, please call the parish office at 773-539-7510.

REMINDER: SSVD BOX RELOCATED
Due to problems with the St. Vincent dePaul donation box, it was removed from the Queen of Angels parking lot in August. The box has been relocated to the parking lot at St. Matthias Parish, 4934 N. Claremont. Your donations of clothing, shoes and small household items help the Society of St. Vincent DePaul to meet the needs of the poor in our community.
PLEASE NOTE: The Parish Center can no longer accept items meant for the St. Vincent dePaul box. Please take any items you wish to donate to the box in the St. Matthias parking lot. Thank you and God bless.
