100 YEARS OF SHARING AND CARING: QUEEN OF ANGELS SCHOOL For more than 100 years, our school has been one of the most visible ministries at Queen of Angels. As it was in 1909, or 1957, or 1974, our thriving school community continues to evolve with the changing dynamics of the neighborhood. Our history continues to repeat itself and today, as in years past, we continue to have a very diverse population, both ethnically and financially. More than 19% of our students represent different ethnic minorities. And there are still many families who struggle financially to provide their children with a solid Catholic education.
Through your generosity, the parish maintains the Thomas M. Lyman Scholarship Fund to assist families in need with meeting tuition costs. Last year, we provided over $35,000 in scholarship assistance to school families in need. This money is donated through the Sunday collections and other fundraising efforts. We expect the need to be even greater this year.
As a parish, we believe that no child should be denied a quality, faith-based education on the basis of the family’s inability to meet tuition costs. Ours is a ministry of inclusion, inspired by the Gospels and the faith we try to live out each day. We are proud of our faculty and thankful they partner with us to provide Queen of Angels students with a solid education rooted in our Christian faith.
As we embark on the next 100 years, we pray we will continue to be a strong presence in the community, providing a strong Catholic education to our families. We are grateful for your continued support of our school and the Lyman Scholarship Fund. Please consider this cause when deciding where to place your charitable donation.

CELEBRATING EL SEÑOR DE GRAN PODER Parishioners came together last Sunday afternoon for a celebration of Ecuadorian culture in honor of Jesus Christ as El Señor de Gran Poder, or “Our Lord of Great Power.” The Mass at 12:30 p.m. in Spanish had special music, prayers, and a procession with the statue of Jesus carrying his cross on the way to be crucified. A festival in the church basement included food, music, dancing, and a raffle that raised $1,750 for the parish. Congratulations to the winners and many thanks to all the volunteers and to organizers Judy and Angel Vega and Victor and Ruth Castillo for reminding us all that there is great power in humility, service and love.
