SPRED HOLIDAY NUT FUNDRAISER SPRED, an exciting ministry of Queen of Angels Parish, is part of a larger effort to offer a place of welcome and meaningful relationships for children and adults with developmental or cognitive disabilities. SPRED provides a beautiful process of faith formation for both catechists and friends. Through these communities of faith, a person can discover God’s love and grace while living with a disability. SPRED is kicking off our annual holiday fundraiser counting, once again, on the generosity and goodwill of this parish community and beyond. We have a delicious display that you will find in the Church gathering space after all weekend masses until Christmas:
Deluxe Cashews $10.00 Deluxe Mixed Nuts (no peanuts) $10.00 Chocolate Covered Deluxe Mix $10.00 Bags of Frosted Pretzels $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00
Order forms are also available to bring to friends and relatives. The money from our annual holiday nut sale goes to the upkeep of our beautiful meeting space and all of the necessary supplies. To learn more about SPRED, call Julie Hess at 773-539-3634 or stop by for a visit or for an observation of a session.

ADVENT SERVICE PROJECT Queen of Angels School will sponsor a new toy drive to benefit Ronald McDonald House through December 12. Ronald McDonald House provides support and care to families with children who are seriously ill. Toys must be brand new and still in original packaging. Stuffed animals are not allowed. All unwrapped gifts must be brought to the school by Friday, December 12. Thank you for your support in making a seriously ill child's day a little brighter. Call 773-769-4211.
SHARE IN THE CARE OF RETIRED RELIGIOUS Please give back to those who gave so selflessly. Ninety-five percent of donations to the National Religious Retirement Office aid elderly religious. About 58 percent of women and men religious are past age 70; seven percent are past age 90. More than 4,900 need skilled nursing care. Even at advanced ages, many work in compensated or volunteer ministry that benefits others. Religious institutes are financially autonomous and responsible for the support of their members. Income sources include compensated ministry, government benefits and investment return.
Most elderly religious receive, on average, a Social Security benefit of just $4,402 per year. Community living provides some economies of scale, but health care and living costs in most religious communities far exceed income.
Please be as generous as you are able to support this noble cause.
