CELEBRATING THANKSGIVING Please join us for Thanksgiving Mass at 9 a.m. this Thursday, November 27. Before you devour your turkey and all the trimmings, we invite you to give thanks to God for your many gifts and blessings by joining with fellow parishioners in worship. The 7 a.m. Mass will not be celebrated due to the holiday.
The Parish Center will close at 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday and will reopen at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 29. In the event of an emergency that requires the attention of a priest, please call the Parish Center at 773-539-7510 and the answering service will contact the appropriate person.
THANKSGIVING MEAL AT ST. BEN’S A turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, November 27 in the St. Benedict Social Center, 2219 W. Irving Park Road. If you would like to attend, donate food or volunteer, please call 773-588-6484.
SPRED HOLIDAY NUT FUNDRAISER SPRED, an exciting ministry of Queen of Angels Parish, is part of a larger effort to offer a place of welcome and meaningful relationships for children and adults with developmental or cognitive disabilities. SPRED provides a beautiful process of faith formation for both catechists and friends. Through these communities of faith, a person can discover God’s love and grace while living with a disability.
SPRED is kicking off our annual holiday fundraiser counting, once again, on the generosity and goodwill of this parish community and beyond. We begin this weekend prior to Thanksgiving to give you a chance to add a little treat to the festivities of this holiday. We have a delicious display that you will find in the Church gathering space after all weekend masses until Christmas:

CHRISTMAS TREE SALES Grab a scarf, hat and pair of warm mittens for the 19th Annual Queen of Angels Parish and School Christmas Tree Sale starting Saturday, November 29 in the parking lot. There will be more than 495 items to choose from including four varieties of trees from Northern Wisconsin starting at $20. Find the White Pine, Fraser, Balsam or Spruce of your dreams. Can’t handle a real tree? No problem! Three sizes of wreaths (24-inch, 36-inch and 48-inch) will be available along with Balsam, White Pine and Fraser Garland in 25-foot rolls. Hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Proceeds will benefit Queen of Angels Parish and School.
In order to make this event possible, we need you. Volunteers are needed to help sell the trees in three hour shifts. Dress warmly and be prepared for a good time. Got a group of people to work with you? A group of organization members, family, friends, etc. can schedule a shift and wile away the time enjoying the season and the excitement as folks choose their trees. Ready to meet new people? Join the fun! On-the-job training is provided. Please give just three hours of your time, knowing you are helping to ensure the future of Queen of Angels. ‘Tis the season... Thanks to Holiday Arts and Craft Fair event chairperson Melanee Schoendorff and a crew of volunteers, visits with Santa, kids games and crafts, bake sale, food items and craft exhibits made Queen of Angels the place to be for holiday joy. De los archivos de la parroquia... LA DEDICACIÓN DE NUESTRA IGLESIA El 9 de Noviembre celebramos la fiesta de la Dedicación de la Basílica de San Juan de Letran en Roma, la parroquia hogar del papa y la catedral de la ciudad de Roma. Muchas veces en los pasados cien años hemos dedicado y re-dedicado los edificios de nuestra propia parroquia. Son lugares consagrados donde nos reunimos para orar, trabajar, ayudar, reír, adorar, sanar y aprender. En nuestro año centenario, echemos una mirada atrás y celebremos la dedicación de Reina de los Ángeles. A través de la reconstrucción, renovación y renacimiento de nuestra parroquia y sus edificios, vemos evidencia de nuestro Centenario de Compartir y Cuidar. Cuando una iglesia es dedicada, toda su gente se regocija.
-- Agosto 8, 1909 – La primera misa en la parroquia Reina de los Ángeles. No había edificio todavía, así que la misa se celebró en un salón arriba de una taberna en la esquina noreste de Lincoln y Montrose.
-- Junio 28, 1910 – Dedicación del primer edificio de Reina de los Ángeles, localizado en el centro de nuestra presente escuela parroquial. El nivel bajo se usaba como salón de juntas con la iglesia arriba en el primer piso. Los seis salones de clases que tenía la escuela en ese tiempo ocupaban el segundo piso y el tercer piso servía como alojamiento a las hermanas Adrianas Dominicanas que formaban la facultad de la escuela.
-- Junio 22, 1925 - La primera misa en la Iglesia de abajo. Por quince años, el “sótano de la iglesia” de estos días era el centro de la vida litúrgica de nuestra parroquia.
-- Marzo 4, 1935 – Dedicación del Salón Guild. Convertido de dos salas de exhibición de automóviles desaparecidas, el Salón Guild se volvió el salón de la vida parroquial, donde la gente se reunía para ver los juegos de basketbol, patinaje, juegos de cartas y billares, bailes, peleas de box, juntas de los scout y otros clubes, obras de teatro y conciertos musicales.
-- Noviembre 24, 1938 – La primera piedra se puso en su sitio para la superestructura de la iglesia. Copias de los boletines de la iglesia y fotografías se pusieron en una caja metálica junto a la primera piedra.
-- Mayo 5, 1940 – La misa de Dedicación de la Iglesia de Arriba. Después de 17 años de trabajo de construcción, problemas con los cimientos, demoras en el trabajo y la Gran Depresión, nuestra parroquia finalmente tenía su nueva iglesia.
-- Mayo 15, 1976 – Re-dedicación del Salón Guild. El edificio había sido destruido en un fuego en Septiembre de 1973.
-- Agosto 25, 1984 – Misa de Dedicación del Centro Social Padre James A. Voss. El Padre Voss falleció cuatro días más tarde.
-- Septiembre 28, 1984 – Misa de 75o. Aniversario y Re-dedicación de la Iglesia, celebrada por el Cardenal Joseph Bernardin.
-- Octubre 21, 2000 – Bendición de los edificios renovados y misa con el Cardenal Francis George. Un regalo de $4.3 millones a través de la generosidad de un donador anónimo permitió que se llevaran a cabo renovaciones en la iglesia, la escuela y el Centro Parroquial Voss. Los edificios renovados se hicieron totalmente accesibles a personas discapacitadas para servir las necesidades de los miembros de nuestra parroquia.
-- Septiembre 20, 2008 – Se inician las celebraciones oficiales del Centenario. Nuestro año de celebraciones centenarias empezó con una misa celebrada al aire libre en el patio de la escuela, junto al sitio de nuestra iglesia parroquial original.
