FRIDAY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Every Friday, the Blessed Sacrament is placed out for veneration and prayer from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. To reach the Adoration Chapel, enter the church through the Claremont door, walk up the stairs, turn to the left and then to the left again. Walk down the passage behind the altar and enter the former baptistery, where the Eucharist is exposed for veneration. Feel free to bring your bible, rosary, books and thoughts. Spend some time with Jesus in the form of the Blessed Sacrament. This is an excellent way to build special devotions into your week.
Visitors are asked to register their attendance in the sign-in book when attending Adoration. The book is located in the chapel. You may sign up for a particular hour of prayer every week. At some time during the day, before or after work, while out running errands, stop by the chapel for some quiet time with the Lord. Help us keep vigil with the Lord by making time on Fridays for these beautiful moments of prayer. Call Christine Murphy at 773-561-9072.

SHARE YOUR FAITH THROUGH SPRED There is an urgent need for more volunteer catechists. We have two young gentlemen in our Thursday group who are presently without partners. One to one relationships are an essential aspect of the Spred program. There continues to be a need for more catechists for our Wednesday group as well so they may welcome more friends.
Please consider this important invitation. There are no challenging pre-requisites as a Spred catechist. The experience is like no other. We urge you to come and learn more. Orientation and tours are given. You may register to observe a Spred session or you may just come and join one of our communities for a session to see how you like it. We meet either on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Please, consider this opportunity and give it some prayer. Contact Julia Hess at 773-539-3634 or julia.spredcrw@sbcglobal.net.
NICODEMUS MINISTERS NEEDED When a parishioner dies, the priest leads the wake, or vigil service, and celebrates the Mass of Christian Burial. However, the final Prayers of Commendation at the cemetery are led by a lay person. Why? Laity are encouraged to lead their brothers and sisters in prayer. It is a sign that when a parishioner dies, other members in the parish — and not just the priest — pray. This is a ministry of tenderness to a family in sadness and also one of personal fulfillment. Volunteers are needed. Follow the kindness of Nicodemus who, with Joseph of Arimathea, buried Jesus. Materials and training are provided. Call 773-539-7510.
LYMAN FUND STILL IN NEED Please continue to give as you can to the Lyman Scholarship Fund that provides financial assistance to student families of our parish school. The fund is financed totally through the generous donations of parishioners who believe in the future of Catholic education. Financial hardships, the loss of a job, a sudden illness or any emergency may hit a family at any time. Please consider helping those in need at our school by contributing to the Lyman Fund. Use the green envelope found in the regular monthly packet or place a donation in an envelope marked “Lyman Fund.” It is the hope that no child is denied a Queen of Angels Catholic School education because of unexpected financial hardship. Call Mrs. Julia Kelly, school principal, at 773-769-4211.
MAINTAIN TIES TO SCHOOL HISTORY Are you a graduate of Queen of Angels School? Do you have wonderful memories from your elementary years that you want to help maintain and continue? If so, would you like to help the school expand its alumni relations efforts to better serve its alumni community? As our parish and school approach the centennial celebration, it is more important than ever to build and maintain good relationships with the hundreds of men and women who graduated from Queen of Angels.
Their memories and connections to the school are as important to the future of our school as it is to the past. We would like to do more to cherish, nurture and document our history through involvement of more Queen of Angels alumni. Alumni relations activities may include helping plan reunions and alumni masses, gathering and updating alumni information, finding “lost” alumni, and helping with student/alumni activities. Your time commitment can be as much as you are interested in giving and can be on your own time and schedule. Contact the school at 773-769-4211 or e-mail alumni@queenofangelschicago.org.
