PLEASE PRAY FOR VOCATIONS Today, Good Shepherd Sunday, is a special celebration of World Day of Prayer for Vocations. The world–wide Church honors all Christian vocations.
We are called by name and offered a special gift of a Christian vocation. We pray that we are open to God’s call and ready to accept the gift. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is with us to guide and protect us on our life journey.
Prayer for Vocations God, Our Father, thank you for your son, Jesus, our Good Shepherd, who leads us to fullness of life. By our baptism, we are called by name to continue the mission of Jesus. Give us the grace to listen with an open heart to the voice of Jesus and to respond generously with a joyful spirit. Strengthen the men and women you called to serve through marriage, the single life, the diaconate, priesthood, and consecrated life. Guide all who are discerning their Christian vocation. In gratitude we offer this prayer through Jesus and the Holy Spirit, united with you forever. Amen.

FRIDAY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION The Blessed Sacrament is placed out for veneration and prayer from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m every Friday. To reach the Adoration Chapel, enter the church through the Claremont door, walk up the stairs, turn to the left and then to the left again. Walk down the passage behind the altar and enter the former baptistery, where the Eucharist is exposed for veneration. Spend some time with Jesus. Visitors are asked to register their attendance in the sign-in book (in the chapel) when attending Adoration and may even sign up for a particular hour of prayer each week. Help keep vigil with the Lord by making time on Fridays for these moments of prayer. Call Christine Murphy at 773-561-9072.
MAINTAIN TIES TO SCHOOL HISTORY Are you a graduate of Queen of Angels School? Do you have wonderful memories from your elementary years that you want to help maintain and continue? If so, would you like to help the school expand its alumni relations efforts to better serve its alumni community?
As our parish and school approach the centennial celebration, it is more important than ever to build and maintain good relationships with the hundreds of men and women who graduated from Queen of Angels. Their memories and connections to the school are as important to the future of our school as it is to the past.
We would like to do more to cherish and document our history through involvement of more Queen of Angels alumni. Alumni relations activities may include helping plan reunions and masses, finding “lost” alumni, gathering and updating alumni information, and helping with student/alumni activities. Your commitment can be on your own time and schedule. Contact the school at 773-769-4211 or e-mail alumni@queenofangelschicago.org.
DID YOU KNOW...? The Church’s greatest prayer, the Eucharist, is celebrated at Queen of Angels sixteen times during a normal week. This means that there are sixteen opportunities each week for a Mass to be celebrated with a special intention for prayers for a person dear to you! Intentions may be offered in the name of friends or relatives, living or deceased, for those in need of extra prayers or in honor of a beloved saint. Birthdays, wedding anniversaries, feasts of patron saints and other dates special to you or your loved ones are great opportunities to remember them in prayer through a Mass intention. Intentions may be placed for Sunday, weekday, holy day or holiday Masses during 2008. Mass cards are available. The suggested donation to Queen of Angels is $10 per Mass. Please visit or call the Parish Center at 773-539-7510 for information or to place your intention.
