NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD

Morning Prayer for Easter Sunday
God, creator of us all,
Today is the day of Easter joy.
This is the morning on which the Lord appointed to his friends
Who had begun to lose hope.
He opened their minds to what the Scriptures had foretold:
That he first must die and then would rise and later ascend into your glorious presence.
May the risen Lord breathe on our minds and open our eyes
So we may know him always in the breaking of the bread,
Receive and give his peace,
And follow him through this life into his risen life.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Ministry of Care Program

Among the Church’s ministries, the care of the sick, the aging and the frail has been essential. The Ministry of Care program is an outreach to those unable to participate in the celebration of the Eucharist because of illness and age. The ministry allows people to experience the nearness of God through the presence of their faith community and through the reception of the Eucharist.

Parishioners share in this ministry, bringing the Eucharist to our homebound parishioners and to patients at Swedish Covenant Hospital. The next Ministry of Care Training Program in our area will take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish on three consecutive Saturday mornings beginning April 9 from 8:45 a.m. to Noon.

DANCE THE “KNIGHT” AWAY II
Support the Queen of Angels Athletic Board and Dance the “Knight” Away at the second annual get-together. All adults (over 21 years old) are invited to the Guild Hall Gym from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday April 9 at 4416 N. Western Ave. Music will be provided by DJ Al. A cash bar will be available. Tickets are $10 in advance (at the school), $12 at the door. Proceeds benefit Guild Hall improvements.

The Final Week of Lent

PRE-EASTER SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION (confessions)
Monday, March 21 – 7 to 8 p.m.
Friday, March 25 – 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
(There are NO confessions on Saturday, March 26, Holy Saturday.)
Reconciliation (confessions) is celebrated in the Reconciliation Room in the Gathering Space, either face-to-face or anonymously. If a second priest is needed for Reconciliation, the confessional to the left of the Reconciliation Room is used.

HOLY WEEK LITURGIES
HOLY THURSDAY, MARCH 24
9 a.m. – Morning Prayer. This is not a Eucharist and there is no communion at this morning prayer.  The Church allows only one Mass, in the evening, on Holy Thursday.
7:30 p.m.– Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper. The Blessed Sacrament remains in the church until midnight for prayer. The church remains open from midnight on.

Please note that because many parish staff members work all of Holy Week to prepare for the Feast of Easter, the Parish Center will be closed to all activities Monday, March 28. The office will reopen for regular business hours at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 29.

RECONCILIATION OPPORTUNITIES
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered from 7 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 21 and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday (Good Friday) March 25. There will be no confessions on Holy Saturday, March 26.

Finish the Lenten Season and move to Easter as a refreshed Christian.

Catholics Returning Home

What is this?
A strong phenomenon of our time is some Catholics, at one point or another in their lives leave the Church. Often, at a later time, there is the desire to return to the Church.

Why might a person leave? Disagreement with a Church teaching. An unpleasant encounter with a priest or another Church leader. Just growing up and growing away. Searching. Doubts. Anger at God. Having to find God in one’s own way. There are many other reasons why a person could step away from the Church, Faith or even God.

Why do people return? The new sacramental life of their children. There is the feeling that something is missing, almost a hole that needs to be filled. Religion was a part of a person’s younger life. It was a value, and now that value and strength has been redefined in more adult terms. Or simply a person just leaves, gets too busy, or feels they can do without the Church and prayer but later realizes that cannot remain the case.
