COLLECTION FOR THE HOLY LAND ON GOOD FRIDAY; COLLECTION FOR ST. VINCENT DEPAUL ON HOLY THURSDAY
Your help is needed now, as in the days of St. Francis, to protect the Holy Places of the Holy Land. Even more important, we need your help to protect the Holy Name of Our Lord in this troubled land which He chose for His birth, sacrificial death and victorious resurrection.
That is why Franciscan Missioners in the Holy Land minister—in Christ’s name—to the people found there. That is why a refugee child is fed in your behalf. Or some young pilgrims are given a warm place to spend the night on their once-in-a-lifetime adventure for God. Or a poor local Christian family is helped to build a roof over their heads.
We protect more than the stones of ancient shrines from the ravages of time or armies or tourists. In an unbelieving world we express and protect the very idea of what it means to follow Christ.
Your gift will give life to some and hope to others, lighting candles of faith in darkened shrines and lives. Even becoming the very bread and wine of our daily Eucharist.
On Good Friday, when the annual Collection for the Shrines (and people) of the Holy Land is taken up, please respond as generously as you can.
The collection on Holy Thursday will benefit our parish St. Vincent DePaul Society.
RESPECT LIFE UPDATE
As we contemplate the passion of our Lord in this holy season, remembering the precious blood that was willingly sacrificed on our behalf, remember too those tiny lives each of us hold in our hands and how very little they demand of us in exchange for so much joy.
Last week you were introduced to Jane, our Adopt-a-Mom. Please extend your Easter prayers to include Jane, her baby and all those whose lives are minimalized or marginalized by the world. In two weeks we will make available the gift list for her baby shower.
Mark your calendar to include Life Logic, the 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 30 discussion at Queen of Angels of the good work done by Aid For Women (including Adopt-A-Mom, where we found Jane), welcoming the director of that organization, Diane Pietrzak.

FAIR TRADE COFFEE SALE
9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26 at the Guild Hall (during Market Day pick-up)
As part of its commitment to affirming the dignity of human labor, Queen of Angels parish is encouraging the use of fairly traded coffee in parish activities and in the homes of parishioners. The Queen of Angels Peace and Justice Committee will support this effort by offering a limited amount of fair trade coffee for sale from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at the Guild Hall.
Catholic social teaching calls us to live our faith in solidarity with our poor and marginalized brothers and sisters overseas, and to demonstrate special concern for the poor. In the case of coffee, this means seeking alternatives to a system that channels as little as 1 percent of the end value of our coffee back to the struggling small-scale farmers who grew it. Making the conscious choice to consume fair trade coffee, in short, is consistent with the social principles of our faith. It requires little of us, but can have a decisive impact on the lives of our brothers and sisters in need overseas.
During Market Day pick-up on Saturday, March 26, twelve-ounce bags of fair trade coffee will be available for purchase for $6.50 each. Choose from organic breakfast blend, medium roast, whole bean; organic breakfast blend, medium roast, ground; or organic decaf Colombian, ground. Your purchase helps support Catholic Relief Services and it aids projects with small farmers. Come early and buy while supplies last! Serve up a cup of justice when you join in fellowship with others.
To learn more about fair trade, visit Catholic Relief Services’ fair trade website at www.crsfairtrade.org or the parish peace & justice website at www.peaceandjusticechicago.com

SHOP TRIP FOR EASTER!
The Queen of Angels TRIP (Tuition Reduction Incentive) program is a fundraiser that already brings thousands of dollars to the school and parish each year. It is a great fundraiser, but one which has not yet met its potential for earnings.
Who knew?!
…that something so simple can raise over $10,000 for our parish, school, and school families with only 8 percent of parish families participating!
…that with a little planning and patience before you do your shopping, you can raise significant money for the parish and school!
…that you can reduce your tuition bills, too!
Without spending anything additional, you can earn real money for the parish and school as well as for you!
Your “credit” can be applied as REAL money to one of five areas:
- Reduce your tuition bill by the amount of credit.
- Direct the money earned (i.e., credit) to be applied to another family’s tuition.
- Direct the money earned to be applied to the Lyman Family Scholarship Fund
- Direct the money earned to be applied to the School General Fund
- Direct the money earned to be applied to the Parish General Fund.
For more details on how the TRIP program works, please see one of the TRIP representatives in the Gathering Space after 8, 9:30 or 11 a.m. Mass, or contact the school or parish offices.
