NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD
Let’s first look at the event in today’s Gospel. The Magi depart after their unexpected visit. An angel appears in a dream to Joseph. The message is brief: Leave the country. Go to a foreign nation. Jesus is being hunted down by a jealous king who, after hearing from the Magi that a new King has been born, fears for his shaky throne.
Joseph wraps up the Infant, places him in the arms of his amazed and half-asleep mother. They go to Egypt. This would not have been a pleasant journey. King Herod dies. Historians write that his body was rotting even prior to his death from every sort of eating, drinking and sexual self-indulgence. Again, an angel comes to Joseph in a dream. It’s time to return to Israel, but not to your real hometown. Another king, Archelaus is on the throne. Avoid his reach. Herod was mad— but Archelaus is a tyrant. “Out of Egypt,” the Son of God is called. Back to his new hometown: Nazareth.

THANKING YOU FOR BUYING HEIFER GIFT ANIMALS
Thanks to all of the parish members who contributed to the Heifer Project's efforts to fight hunger this Christmas. Parishioners contributed a total of $830 to purchase farm animals including rabbits, honeybees, ducks, chickens, pigs, goats, sheep, and llamas.
The animals that you have helped purchase will provide sustainable sources of income – livestock that produce milk, honey, eggs, wool and fertilizer – to help people lift themselves out of poverty.
You can learn more about Heifer or donate by visiting their website at http://www.heifer.org.

“A virgin shall conceive and bear a son and they shall name him “Emanuel,” which means “God is with us."
“God is with us.” The great event of God taking human flesh is our Christmas Day celebration. Welcoming that day of divine entry into humanity is a prayerful and peaceful purpose of Advent. In that we remember. This final week of Advent is not looking at long ago, it is a description of our ongoing encounter with God.
Advent means every coming of Christ, first into the world in human flesh, and in all comings of God to us. “God is with us” in our faith, in the believing community, in the sacred Scripture, in the Sacraments, in our acts of charity and in Christ coming for us at the end of our earthly lives. “God is with us” is a day, a lifetime, our faith!
