This article is not suggesting questions or values to help you determine how you might vote. It is urging you to very thoughtfully consider the privilege of voting.
Americans have the privilege of voting or not voting. In voting I make a statement. In choosing to vote, I present my opinions and values towards the choice of leadership which governs me and the country. Among reasons for choosing to vote could be that there is a candidate or platform that represents my views, even if imperfectly. I do see voting as part of my responsibility as a citizen. I am involved in voting believing my one vote, combined with the whole, is important. “I” becomes part of “we” and “we” make a difference.
This year’s election, particularly at the Presidential level, is extremely tight. Think clearly where you will be and why in relation to a voting booth on election day. You are making a statement, even if only to yourself, about this specific task of citizenship.
