The School Development Committee is charged with outreach to Queen of Angels School Alumni. We also seek various funding sources, including grant writing, to support the cost of constant curriculum renewal and need based-student scholarship tuition assistance.
Membership is made up of school parents and parishioners with development skills interested in the school. The group meets on the third Monday of every month at 7:00 PM in Upper Parish/Voss Center. Contact Lisa Riley at email@example.com or (773) 267-9295 to volunteer, make a pledge, or begin the process of organizing a class reunion.
School principal Julia Kelly extends a special invitation to alumni who are interested in sponsoring a reunion tour to contact the school. Two alumni groups have toured the school this past year and were hosted by the Development Committee and the principal. The school provides a gathering and reception room with refreshments before the tour begins. Please call Mrs. Julia Byrns Kelly for inquiries and arrangements: (773) 769.4211 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Best wishes from the administration and faculty of Queen of Angels for a blessed 2004!
Here's information on the current focus of the School's Annual Fund:
We’ve come a long way. Alumni, parents, and friends of Queen of Angels Catholic Elementary School have helped us dramatically over the last few years. Through a variety of means, we’ve achieved a great deal:
--Complete renovation & expansion of our school and some surrounding buildings. We now have one of the most modern Catholic school facilities in Chicago
--Addition of a science lab, computer lab, and renovation of the library. These much-needed resources have been a welcome addition for students
--Complete revamping of the textbook and classroom materials over the last 4 years: Reading, Language Arts, Religion, Science, and Mathematics. Student scores have risen over the same time period
We’ve got to continue the momentum. We’ve achieved much, but there is work to be done. The desks at the school are more than 35 years old. Keeping up with advances in technology is a never-ending task. That’s why we are asking for your help.
Furnishings. Thousands of students over thousands of school days have used the school desks in their learning. The furniture is old, worn out and breaking down. Paint is chipped, wood is worn, metal legs are starting to give way.
The amount of textbooks used in the modern classroom exceeds the capacity of the old desks: our students can’t always fit their books in their desks!
To furnish our children with appropriate desks for work and learning, we are embarking on a program to replace the almost 300 aged desks in our classrooms. This is an ambitious but unavoidable need that will cost our school approximately $53,500.
The Future. Keeping our school equipped with information technology is as important as providing them with current textbooks. Fluency with computer software, hardware and the internet is critical to the future professional and scholastic successes of our students. We need 50 new computer workstations – each consisting of hard drive with software, monitor, keyboard, and mouse – to ensure computers in every classroom and replacement of aging ones in the computer lab. This will cost our school approximately $42,700 over the next two years.
A Two-Year Campaign. This year we are initiating our first two-year fundraising campaign with a total goal of $96,200. We are approaching friends who have helped in the past and we are seeking to establish new relationships with philanthropic foundations and seek their support. The momentum we gather now via your kind contributions will set the tone for the coming days. We have asked for your donations in the past and you and other friends have been generous and sensitive to our needs.
Please help us Furnish the Future at Queen of Angels.
